On special events, the town council puts up patriotic flags in the town. The town council is now tendering out the work and inviting interested firms/individuals to submit a tender.

The work on dates to be confirmed, involves collecting the flags from a town centre unit, putting the flags up in the official holders and tie-wrapping to secure, taking them down at a later stage, checking for any needed repairs, rolling them up and returning them to the unit.

The work will be at 80 locations in Darwen and some locations may have up to 3 flag holders. It involves ladder work and the successful tender will include public liability insurance.

Interested parties are asked to send tenders in a sealed envelope by September 30th to: Darwen Town Council, Ollistan, 239 Red Lees Road, Cliviger, Burnley, BB10 4RF.
